KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 11 — Abdul Latif Romly has broken the world record in the men’s long jump T20 event in the Rio Paralympics to deliver another gold medal for Malaysia.
In just under a day, Malaysia has gone from never winning a gold medal to bagging three in the Paralympic Games.
Abdul Latif’s medal adds to those won by Mohamad Ridzuan Mohamad Puzi and Muhammad Ziyad Zolkefli yesterday.
Mohamad Ridzuan won the gold medal in the 100m T36 event with a time of 12.07s, ahead of ahead of Yang Yifei of China (12.20s) and Rodrigo Parreira da Silva of Brazil (12.54s).
Muhammad Ziyad took the top spot in the shot put F20 (intellectual disability) event with his world record 16.84m.
