LOS ANGELES, June 15 — New trailers for a host of upcoming games spilled forth from PlayStation’s showcase at the 2016 Electronic Entertainment Expo, including those for “Bound” and its balletic inspirations, a bandicoot-featuring “Skylanders Imaginators,” the boy and cat-eagle adventure “The Last Guardian,” brick-based larks of “Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” and a teaser for the new “Spider-Man,” as well as 8 minutes inside robo-dinosaur action game “Horizon Zero Dawn.”
A polygonic spree of climbing and traversal, with classical, balletic dance moves informing the main character’s progression.
Horizon Zero Dawn
Robotic steeds, machine monster fights, and conversational choices make it much easier to assess what the sci-fi prehistoric “Horizon Zero Dawn” has become in advance of its February 2017 release.
The Last Guardian
At one point it seemed like “The Last Guardian” would never escape its Sisyphean development cycle, but the tale of a lost boy and his giant, cat-eagle companion creature Trico, is now dated for October 25, 2016.
Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Full of jokes and japes as ever, the events of 2015’s “Star Wars” game are recreated in blocky glory. The June 28 game will release on PlayStation 4 and PS3 as well as Xbox One, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii U, Vita, 3DS, and Windows PCs. A PS4 demo is immediately available from the PS Store.
Accompanying the announcement that the first three “Crash Bandicoot” games are coming to PlayStation 4, the orange-furred marsupial is also crossing over to October 2016’s toys-game hybrid “Skylanders Imaginators.”
It’s a little surprising that this fell to “Ratchet & Clank” studio Insomniac, given how Spidey-esque the “Infamous” games from the Sucker Punch team had been at times, but this treatment nevertheless looks like it has a good chance of delivering the sort of punchy web-slinging action required. — AFP-Relaxnews
