KUALA LUMPUR, March 29 — Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad hit back today at Umno members who criticised him for allying with DAP’s Lim Kit Siang, saying it is them who do not love the party by keeping silent on corruption.
The former prime minister and ex-Umno president accused members of the Malay ruling party of selling out their race, country and religion by not supporting calls for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s removal.
“This is not Umno anymore,” Dr Mahathir wrote on his blog.
“Don’t act as if you’re an Umno member who supposedly can’t bear to see me with Kit Siang. The ones who don’t love Umno are all of you, those of you who are mute, deaf and blind,” he added.
The elder statesman said Malaysians were more opposed to seeing Umno members supporting Najib than seeing them on the same stage with the DAP parliamentary leader.
Dr Mahathir recently launched a movement called Save Malaysia together with politicians from both sides of the divide and human rights activists in an effort to oust Najib from office. – MMO.
