Boat ‘capsizes’ on East Coast Expressway

KUANTAN, Dec 11 — A boat ‘capsized’ yesterday at Km190 of the East Coast Expressway! The boat had overturned and landed across the road after a four-wheel-drive vehicle towing it skidded and hit the road divider, causing the front right tyre to puncture, said Pahang Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department Chief Supt Mohd Noor Yusof Ali.

It was being taken to Tasik Kenyir, Terengganu, by John Beauchamp Russel, 55, manager of a luxury apartment in Kuala Lumpur, when the accident happened at 10.44am, he said.

Russell, a Malaysian, and a passenger, Jennifer Lynne, 51, an American citizen, were unhurt in the accident.

Mohd Noor said Russel had a valid licence to pilot the boat and the authority to tow it. — Bernama.
